Seaside Fun in the Sun

After overdoing it in the garden yesterday, I'm avoiding the sun  this afternoon and staying indoors, but the sun inspired me with this seaside card

I water coloured the image with my Aqua Painter, made it into a banner, and layered it on some striped embossed card which was highlighted with markers in one corner. It was finished with a sentiment sun cut Nestie.

Summer Reflections

Yaaaaay! I made Top 3 at Make My Monday with my Paper Piecing card, so a big "Thank You" to their lovely DT.

My card today is for three challenges

 First is Make My Monday where they want to see some

 3D DIMENSION,

second is Addicted to CAS with a theme of

 SUMMER

and lastly, The Male Room with a masculine card in a theme of      REFLECTIONS

Here's my card

I stamped the lady in the boat twice in Black Archival ink, coloured one and cut it out. With the other one I cut it with a Nestie and stamped some flowers and plants on the riverbank. and coloured the water and reflections with an Aqua Painter. The first lady was then stuck over the other with 3D Pads. The Nestie image, also on 3D pads, was then placed on some green and red cards that had been embossed, and that had been wrapped with a navy ribbon. The finishing touches were the sentiment, bow, and the stamped dragonfly which was also on 3D pads.

Paper Piecing

My card today is for two challenges

First is Mojo Monday with this sketch,

and then Make My Monday want to see some

PAPER PIECING


This is my card

I started by stamping the little girl in Archival ink on white card, yellow striped and flowered DSP's. The hat and dress were then cut out and placed over the image on the white card. The dress ribbon and girls arms were coloured with SU Markers and an Aqua Painter.

The whole thing was then cut with a Nestie. Using the same DSP's I stamped the flowers and butterfly and cut/punched them out and layered them with the green stamped leaves. A ribbon and sentiment were added to finish.

Water Maiden

I've had a nightmare weekend with no internet connection, so I've got a mad dash to publish this in time (hopefully!)
My card today is for four challenges

The first is Paper Craft Crew with this sketch,

and lastly, Addicted to Stamps with MAKE YOUR MARK

Here is my card

The image was stamped in black Archival ink and coloured with Write Markers and an Aqua Painter. A Post It was then placed over the woman in the boat so that the sky could be sponged behind her, and water painted under her. Some reeds were stamped on the waters edge, and the reflections were softened in the water with an Aqua Painter. Some red and blue were also added in the water under the woman's toes. The scene was cut with a Nestie and laid on embossed brown and blue cards with 3D pads. The finishing touches were the ribbon, sentiment, and stamped dragonfly.

At the beach

Yaaaaaay! I've just seen that I was a Glamette at Friday Mashup with my brick wall technique, so "Thank You Lisa" for picking my card.

My card today is for four challenges

First is ColourQ with these colours,

Here is my card

I started by stamping the two children in Archival Ink on white card, and covering them with Post It Notes. I stuck a Post It circle in the top where the sun will be, and with pieces of a scalloped circle for clouds,  I sponged  over the area with blue to make the sky (sorry it's 

not clear in the photo). I sponged under some torn paper with yellow to make a sandy beach, and then drew a line in blue to make the sea. The scene was coloured with an Aqua Painter to make the colours go further, and laid on a grey Nestie on a lilac embossed card wrapped with white ribbon.

I do enjoy making scenes by putting different stamps together, and there is something therapeutic about the sponging  technique that gives a rewarding result. I hope you like it.

I'm off to see my Sisters today. Cassy is bringing Henry to Ali's house, and then we're all going to see Ali's new baby donkey. We had no idea that Lily the Pink ( donkey ) was even pregnant, so she surprised us all by producing a foal, now named Clover.

Life's a Beach!

Yaaaaay! I've just found out I was in the Top Picks at Stampin' Royalty, so Thank You to the Goddesses!

My card today is for three challenges,

Here is my card

The boy on the beach was stamped in Archival ink, and a sun and him were masked with a Post it, and the sky and sand were sponged over them. The scene was coloured with an Aqua painter so that the 3 colours went further in different shades. 

A yellow flourish that made me think of Seaweed, was fussy cut and placed over some hessian that looks like a fishing net, and I added some aquatic beads to it. The finishing touches were the addition of some shell sequins in the bottom corner, and the stamped sentiment

I had a great birthday yesterday, and ate far too much chocolate cake, but after Mum had made it for me, it would have been rude not to, wouldn't it?! I wont tell you how old I am, but it was a good year for British Football at the World Cup?? The weather was wet, but we made the best of it, and it watered the flowers that Nathan and Sophie had lovingly planted for me.

Jane Austen

Hi All

In between my house work today, I have made a card for two challenges.

The first is Mojo Monday where we have this sketch,

and the second is Make My Monday who have the Jane Austen Novel, Persuasion, as inspiration




This is my card

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't read this novel, so I took my inspiration from the pastel colours of the lady's dress and the blossom trees behind her. I inked up the blossom branch and stamped it on scrap paper before randomly stamping the card ( the pale pink flowers aren't very clear on my photo, sorry ). The blue and pink cards were embossed before layering on the card under the Nestabilities panel, on which I sponged the sky and grass before colouring the little girls dress with SU Write markers which I blended with an Aqua painter.

I'm off to see my 5year old nephew Nathan tomorrow, and he wants me to help him make a valentines card for his girl friend Adelaide, so I'll probably end up covered in ink again.

Last week, he had to go to school dressed as a Fairytale character and tell his class what the story was. As he believes in Elves, and has a special Elf named Boris ( it's me really !! ) watching over him and writing him letters, he decided to be the cobbler from the "Elves and the shoe maker". Nana made him an apron with a pocket for his tools, and I made him some shoes out of wallpaper with buttons on the toes. What do you think? Should Jimmy Choo be worried??

Anyway, must get something to eat now as it's 8.30pm and I'm starving.

Summer by the sea Anniversary

Hello again!

I've had time today to do another quick card, this time for the Clean and Simple challenge  (FTL 152) with this sketch as the base.


So, I started with some Clarity silk card stock and stamped the loving couple from SU Summer by the Sea in black Adirondack ink. I coloured them in roughly with Pro markers and layered them onto some Pacific Point card. I then drew a heart free hand on some Real Red card and put it through the BS in a Cuttlebug swirl embossing folder. I cut the heart in half and stuck the couple across the middle of it before layering it all on a white card from my stash that has had the corners rounded. It was finished off with a Basic Black Woodware sentiment stamped at the bottom of the heart.

Summer by the Sea Happy Birthday

It seems so wrong making this sunny card today, as it's grey and cloudy outside with the odd drop of rain, but hey ho, it got done anyway!

I will be entering it into the Stampin Royalty Challenge where their theme is Summer, and Pals Paper Arts where its paper piercing.

So this is what I came up with and how I made it.

I started with a cream card from my stash and rounded the corners. Then I used the BS and labels nestabilities ( where would I be without them??) to cut some watercolour paper and some blue card from my stash and layered one on the other. I stamped the little boy slightly off center and towards the bottom of the watercolour paper in black Archival ink, and did it again on a Post it. I placed the Post it image over the main one and coloured the area of sand with Apricot Appeal and an aqua painter. I continued to paint the sea with a blend of Bashful Blue,Tempting Turquoise, and a dark blue watercolour pencil, stopping at the horizon line in dark blue.

The sky was sponged with BBlue around a scallop circle to leave the cloud shapes.

After removing the Post it I coloured the little boy in YO Yo Yellow, TTurquoise, and a brown pencil.

I used a white snow marker to make foam at the waters edge, and as breaking waves in the sea ( I hope you can see this by the boys arm and hand. It is formed by heating the white liquid with a heat gun to make it puff up.)

 

Out came my BS again, and I cut a Real Red scalloped circle and a Sizzix AAppeal sandcastle.

The scallop circle was folded in half and then folded again one scallop each side of the first fold, so that the two scallops could be folded in on themselves, and glued together to create the curved shape of the umbrella.                               Then I pierced each segment with a pricking tool, and drew the seams in with a red pen.                   The umbrella pole is a cotton bud with the fluffy ends removed, and is secured under the canopy with 3D pads to give some dimension.

I drew the lines on the sandcastle with a brown pencil where the detail is, and softened them with my aqua painter, and then stuck it down with  3D pads to make it more dimensional.   

I had great fun experimenting to make some seaweed, I tried punched card shapes and shapeabilities, but I ended up keeping the green ribbon that I had melted with my heat gun. I stuck this down at the bottom of the umbrella with double sided tape and 3D pads.

                             

 

The finishing touches are the pierced holes at the top corners of the cream card, a TTurquoise  stamped Woodware sentiment, and 3 silver shells ( from a string of shells which I bought in a pound shop years ago ) that were coloured blue with a Peel Off felt tip pen.

Well I think that covers it all, I hope you like it.

Tomorrow Monty is having a play day!!! My sister is dropping off her 2 dogs ( a black Lab named Duff , and a Lurcher called Jasper ), while her brood all go to the Welland Steam Rally. Nana and Grandad are going to show Nathan all the machines,tractors and fairground rides, but there is so much walking on uneven ground I wouldn't be able to cope so I'm staying at home. If I have any house left and the strength to turn the laptop on, I may be back in a day or two!!!

Summer by the Sea Mojo

Well have I had a busy few days?? I wont bore you with the details, but I have been a Super Hero helping my nephew Nathan save the world!!! and 'NO', I did not wear my knickers over my tights!!

Phew, it's been really muggy here today, and it didn't help that I had loads ( and I mean loads!! ) of housework to do. I don't know how I ever found time to go to work?

Anyway, this evening, to regain my composure and cool down in front of the fan, I decided to make my card for Mojo Monday Challenge and follow their sketch.

I chose to make a square rather than a round one.

I started with a 6" square white card and masked off the top half of the card with Post Its. Then I randomly stamped the leaf and flowers from Growing Green in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, and Bermuda Bay. I then stamped the leaf in RRazzleberry onto watercolour paper and dragged the colour in from the outlines with an aqua painter. Then I stamped the little girl from SU Summer by the Sea in waterproof black Archival ink and coloured her in  with Crushed Curry, RRazzelberry, MMambo, BBay, Always Artichoke, and the green,blue and purple inks in Vibrant Primary Big and Juicy.

The papers with the leaf and little girl on were then put through the BS with a SB labels nestabilities, and once cut, layered onto the same shape label in RRazzelberry. 

The leaf label was laid first at a jaunty angle to the left hand side of the card, and a ribbon from my stash stuck across the center of the card, before the little girl label was stuck with 3D pads over the ribbon, set again at an angel towards the right hand side of the card. The Woodware sentiment was stamped in RRazzelberry on watercolour paper, layered on RRazzelberry, and again cut with a labels nestabilitie before placing with a bow on the ribbon by 3D pads. The finishing touch were the 2 pink flower shaped buttons from my stash.

I'm exhausted from typing the way it was made, but see what you think of it

Now I am a bit weird where pictures of people and faces are concerned, they freak me out (like clowns do to some people), but the Summer by the Sea set doesn't show any faces so I feel happy using them. Now they have resurfaced I may use them for another challenge I've seen today, but you'll have to wait for tomorrow for that one. 

One more little thing that happened yesterday was, a bath time for the dog. Nathan had heard me say at the weekend that Monty was smelling a bit doggy so he offered to help me bath him!! Being clever I said we'd do it in the garden with the hose so his mummy's bathroom carpet wouldn't get wet.

AM I MAD??? a crazy retriever, a hosepipe, and a 3 1/2 year old boy!!   All I can say is that a whole bottle of shampoo was used, everybody needed a change of clothes, the dry lawn was having a lovely soaking, and it was lucky it was a warm sunny day!!.......but the laughs we had were priceless.

What a joy and pleasure children are, especially when you can hand them back at the end of the day!!
