My Sisters Birthday

I've combined 2 challenges to make a card for my Sisters birthday.

The first is this sketch at Mojo Monday ,

and the second is over at  Paper Players where they have these colours

This is my card. It reminds me of the Fruit Salad Sweets that you could buy for 1/2p when I was a kid ( a very long time ago!!!)

The pink and yellow cards were put through the BS in an embossing folder, before being wrapped in a ribbon and border punch.( I didn't have any Limeade green ribbon or card, so I used a SU Write marker to colour some white ribbon and white card). I used the BS to cut the labels, onto which I then stamped the flourish. The flowers were stamped on white card, cut out, and an Aqua painter used to spread the colour, and then the centres added on 3D pads for dimension. The flower panel and Birthday banner were also put on 3D pads.

Recipe :
Card = Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and White card FMS
Stamps = Everything Eleanor, and Verve
Inks = Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, and Daffodil Delight
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Martha Stewart punch, and Couture Creations EF
Extras = 3D Pads, and Ribbon

Thanks for looking at my blog today, and I hope to be back soon.

Male Birthday

Hello All !!,
Yes I am still here, but with an absent creative mojo and other problems, I've not been able to make anything for a while. However, it's my Step Dad's and Sisters birthday this week, so I've had to come up with something for them.

For my SD Dave's card, I've combined 2 challenges.

The first is Simply Stampin where they had this sketch

and ColourQ where they had this colour palette

This is the card I made

I coloured the tree with SU write markers which took some time to do, so I had to huff and puff on the stamp to moisten the ink again before stamping on to white card.                                                        I used a border punch on the edges of the layered cards, and on a strip of brown underneath the tree that was raised on 3D pads. I also added green ribbon either side of the brown card.

Recipe :
Card = Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight, and white square card FMS
Stamp = Leaves of a Tree, and Basic Phrases
Inks = Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, and Adirondack Butterscotch ( the nearest I have to Mustard )
Tools = Martha Stewart punch
Extras = Ribbon

Thanks for dropping by today, and I'll show you the card for my Sister tomorrow if you'd like to come back then.

Bye for now

My Blog Candy Winner

Sorry that I've not posted for a while, but things have not been going according to plan in my life lately, and I do hope to get behind my crafting desk again very soon.

At the weekend, I needed someone impartial to do the draw for my Candy, and my nephew, Nathan, jumped at the chance ( especially as he'd been to the big boy barbers that morning for a haircut!!)

Here he is, proud to be important, pulling out the name of the winner, Clare.

Congratulations Clare!, if you'd like to email me your address I'll get the goodies off to you ASAP.

I hope you are all staying dry with all the rain we've been having, and that you've enjoyed Wimbledon as much as I have. Fingers crossed Murray can pull a win out of the bag this year?

See you soon

CAS Thank You

Today it's not raining!!but I dont know for how long, as the sky looks a little grey. I've stayed in and had the time to make my folks a quick 'Thank you' card for my birthday pressies and barge trip.

I've combined three challenges, the first being this sketch from Clean and Simple

the second is Friday Mashup where they have these colours

and lastly, Less is More where they want to see SOMETHING SHINY

Here is my card

The fern sprig and the flower were stamped in ink, covered with Versamark, and heat embossed with several layers of clear powder ( the camera flash hasn't reflected as much as I'd hoped it would, sorry, but I hope you get the idea ). The small flower was raised on 3D pads in the centre of the larger flower which was also on 3D pads. The white card was cut in the BS with a label Nestabilities and the edges coloured with a RR Write marker, before being layered on deckle edged card squares. The sentiment was underlined with 3 gems to add that extra shine

Recipe :
Card = Rich Razzelberry, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Whisper White, and white square card FMS
Stamps = Everything Eleanor, Growing Green, and Just Believe
Inks = Rich Razzelberry, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive (outline of fern), and Versamark
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, and heat gun
Extras = Gems, 3D pads, and Clear Embossing Powder

I forgot to take my camera with me on the barge, but my Sister Cassy took some photos which she will email to me as soon as she gets a minute. Our boat was called "Kennelworth Castle", and we had great fun reading all the names of the other barges as the day went on. I read one that I pronounced as "Percy Phone", and commented what a strange name it was, only for everyone to be in hysterics as it should have been "Persephone" ( The daughter of Zeus, I think? ), how stupid did I feel ??.

Anyhow, thanks for dropping by today, and thank you to all those who left me birthday wishes.

I'll be back soon

The Fisher King!!

I'm so sorry that I've been AWOL again, but there's too many excuses to tell you, so I'll not bore you with the grizzly details.

I must say thanks to the DT at Simply Stampin as I was in their Top  3 on 1st June,  Yaaaay me!!

Today, I've been spoilt by my friend Pat, as it's my birthday tomorrow, but I had to rush home early to finish the card I'm about to show you. I made it for my Step Dad, Dave , who is with Mum on a barge holiday on the Birmingham Canals, and tomorrow I'm meeting up with them to spend my day cruising the waterways...............well, if it's good enough for The Queen!!

I will be entering the card into these challenges;

CAS-ual Fridays where they want us to use acetate or vellum,

Make My Monday where they want a Masculine / Father's day  card, and

Southern girls where they want  Things with Wings

Here's my card

First, I stamped the Kingfisher and grasses onto some acetate and coloured him with SU Write Markers and a white gel pen. ( The big white blob under his beak is my camera flash reflecting off the acetate, sorry! ) Next, I stamped the barge onto textured card and masked it with a Post It, and then brayered the water over it in between 2 pieces of torn paper,  and then I sponged the grass banks. I added some tufts of grass and a tree in the background, and sponged a sky over a scalloped circle to make some clouds.

An aperture was then cut in a white card and the acetate stuck behind it. The boat scene was then added to the back of the acetate but sandwiched on 3D pads to add some dimension. I've tried to show this in the photo, but it was no easy task, so I hope you get the gist?. A blue frame was added around the aperture and the sentiment stamped across the bottom to finish it off.  I hope Dave likes it?

 Recipe :
Card = Basful Blue and White CB and textured White card from MS
Inks = Soft Suede, Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Certainly Celery, Poppy Parade, Bashful Blue, Dusty Durango, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, and Crushed Curry
Stamps = Clarity, SU Pocket Silhouettes, and Papermania and Verve sentiments
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities and Brayer
Extras = White gel pen, and 3D pads

There is still time to have a chance to win my candy, so click on my candy photo to see what to do.

Thanks for dropping by, and I hope to be back after my canal trip, so see you then....I hope!!

Another Scottie

What with all the Jubilee celebrations, and family from Kent staying with us, there hasn't been much time for crafting, but I have finished a project that I started a while ago. It's another Scottie project I made for my friend Pat, it's a note pad .
She was going to spend a fortune for something similar on the Internet, and then she asked me if I could try to make one instead! and this is it.

This is how I did it

Start by scoring some stiff card that is 1cm larger all around than the paper cube, and then cover the card in paper of your choice

then cover the patterned paper overlap with white card, and stick the paper cube to the spine of the cover.
Next, decorate the top however you want.  Simples!!!!!

Recipe :
Card = Whisper White, Basic Black, Orchid Opulence, and some cardboard packaging
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Embossing tool
Extras = DP from Create and Craft, Lilac bow, and square paper

Thanks for dropping by today, I hope you can call again soon when I hope I've had time to really craft!!

Dog Roses

Today I've made a card for these challenges, Make My Monday where they have these colours for us

and Simply Stampin' where there is this sketch

and CAS-ual Fridays where they want some Bling

 This is my interpretation

The ribbon is wrapped around the green card, and the foliage is stamped on some white card that is up on 3D pads. The Dog roses ( I think that's what they are?? ) were stamped on white card and washed over with an Aqua painter to spread the inks colour, before being laid in place and the stamens being highlighted with Cosmic Shimmers.

Recipe :
Card = Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, and CB from MS
Stamps = Everything Eleanor and Verve
Inks = Pear Pizzazz and Pixie Pink
Extras = 3D pads, Pixie Pink ribbon, and Cosmic Shimmers Twinkles

I've been dieing to use these stamps since they arrived last week, but after straining my right arm and back while doing the gardening on Monday, I've had a RA flare up and have not been able to brush my hair let alone do any crafting!!.

Anyhow, I hope you all have a good weekend, whatever you are doing to help "Lizzie" celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, and I'll be back soon ( I hope??)

Thanks for dropping by

Oh Man !!!

Today is scorchio hot, so what better excuse is there to stay in the shade, than to watch the tennis, F1, and Soccer Aid.

I did manage to find the time to make a male card which I'll be entering into these three challenges

CAS-ual Fridays want a male card using designer papers

Clean and Simple have this sketch

and Friday Mashup want a card for "That special man in your life"

So here is my card,  I had Fathers Day in mind when I made it, and I cant get Boney-M out of my head now!!

This is a close up of the shirt before I added it to the card

and I'll try to describe how to make it after I've listed my recipe for the card.

Recipe :
Card = Green Galore, Whisper White, white base from MS, and SU DSP
Stamps = Papermania and a magazine freebie
Inks = Green Galore and Real Red
Extras = 3D pads, and red beads

I've used another piece of paper as my shirt is DSP and it's not easy to see the folds etc.. Also the thinner the paper, the easier it is to fold and crease.

Start with a strip of paper 13cm x 7.5cm and fold it in half with the pattern on the outside

then open it up and fold each side into the centre

at one end fold the paper to the outer fold and crease it down to make 2 triangles

where these triangles are formed, fold the end over towards the centre and crease

open it up and fold the triangles to the inside

refold the sides into the centre, but pull the triangles outwards and replace the fold end down

turn the paper over and you will see the triangles have made what will become the sleeves,

at the other end fold 1cm over onto the complete paper ( not the split pieces that should be face down )

turn it over and fold the turn up towards the centre till they meet, and then crease the edges down to form the collar

lastly, lift the end with the triangles sticking out and fold in half so that the end tucks under the collar, and there you have it.

I hope that my instructions make sense to you, and that you have a try for yourself .

Thanks for dropping by today, and I'll be back soon.

Doggy Birthday
