Oh Man !!!

Today is scorchio hot, so what better excuse is there to stay in the shade, than to watch the tennis, F1, and Soccer Aid.

I did manage to find the time to make a male card which I'll be entering into these three challenges

CAS-ual Fridays want a male card using designer papers

Clean and Simple have this sketch

and Friday Mashup want a card for "That special man in your life"

So here is my card,  I had Fathers Day in mind when I made it, and I cant get Boney-M out of my head now!!

This is a close up of the shirt before I added it to the card

and I'll try to describe how to make it after I've listed my recipe for the card.

Recipe :
Card = Green Galore, Whisper White, white base from MS, and SU DSP
Stamps = Papermania and a magazine freebie
Inks = Green Galore and Real Red
Extras = 3D pads, and red beads

I've used another piece of paper as my shirt is DSP and it's not easy to see the folds etc.. Also the thinner the paper, the easier it is to fold and crease.

Start with a strip of paper 13cm x 7.5cm and fold it in half with the pattern on the outside

then open it up and fold each side into the centre

at one end fold the paper to the outer fold and crease it down to make 2 triangles

where these triangles are formed, fold the end over towards the centre and crease

open it up and fold the triangles to the inside

refold the sides into the centre, but pull the triangles outwards and replace the fold end down

turn the paper over and you will see the triangles have made what will become the sleeves,

at the other end fold 1cm over onto the complete paper ( not the split pieces that should be face down )

turn it over and fold the turn up towards the centre till they meet, and then crease the edges down to form the collar

lastly, lift the end with the triangles sticking out and fold in half so that the end tucks under the collar, and there you have it.

I hope that my instructions make sense to you, and that you have a try for yourself .

Thanks for dropping by today, and I'll be back soon.

Don't  forget my candy that's on offer, so click on the photo in my sidebar and leave me a comment to enter a chance to win it.

Doggy Birthday

This is the birthday card I made for my step sister Cassy, whose special day is today. I couldn't post it until now or she would have seen it. She has recently become a mum to a rescued brindle greyhound called Mutley, hence the doggy card.

Recipe :
Card = Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White
Stamps = Inspired by Nature and Verve
Inks = Tempting Turquoise, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and TH Tea Dye
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Shapeabilities, Die Monde Dog die, and Readicut flower punch
Extras = Ribbon and 3D pads

I've been so busy over the last few days, what with the Olympic Torch running through the town, trip to the Safari Park, and 2 Birthday parties, so I haven't had any time for crafting.

I have, however, had time to photograph the Candy I have on offer, so please read the following post for rules of entry

More crafting may come this week so please call again, and Thanks for stopping today.

Wild Green Flowers

Today I've mixed several challenges for my card.

The layout came from this sketch at Mojo Monday

the theme is Wild Flowers and Grasses from Make My Monday

and the colour way from Simply Stampin where they want MONOCHROME with a dash of colour

I chose Green and White as my colours, with a hint of brown ( hopefully not too much?), and so as not to be too predictable for me at MMM, I resisted the urge to get out my sponges and do my favourite sponging technique, and went down the more CAS route.

This is my card

Here is a close up of the dragonfly on the wild flower

Recipe :
Card = Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, and White CB from MS
Stamps = Garden Silhouettes, Organic Grace, and Verve
Inks = Pear Pizzazz, and Chocolate Chip
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, and Martha Stewart punch
Extras = 3D pads and ribbon

I'm not firing on all cylinders this afternoon, so I'll be back soon.

Oh, I must thank Vicky for sending my latest SU order which Louise brought around to Jacquelines crafting morning, and if you too love SU products you can order from Vicky here

Bye for now

Small Wonders

Today I've made 2 cards!! Yes, I know, I was shocked too!

They are for the CAS-ual Fridays  where they want something using Punches or Dies,

and Less is More where Chrissie and Mandi want something for a BABYor CHILD

These are the cards I made,   Aaawwww! I love this die, and want to Thank the DT at CAS-ual Fridays for their Die challenge as it reminded me about the stash of dies I've not used for ages.

This is the pink version

and this is the blue!

This is the die itself which I got off a popular auction site! ( where many of my SU sets etc. come from) and then put all the pieces together

The bears and rabbits ( runny babbits, as Nathan calls them!! ) were all sponged around the edges and the face details drawn on with SU Write Markers. The rabbits and paws of the bears were raised on 3D pads to make them more dimensional.

Recipe :
Card = Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Pink CB, Blue CB and Brown card  from MS
Stamps = Whimsical Words
Inks = Bashful Blue, Regal Rose, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Soft Suede, and TH Tea Dye
Tools = Big Shot, Die Monde die, and Nestabilities
Extras = 3D pads, and DP from Create and Craft

This morning I was a guinea pig for my friends Grand daughter who is doing Hairdressing at college. She needed someone with long hair to have a "Spiral perm", and in a moment of weakness several weeks ago, I agreed. Now, I was one of the masses in the 80's that became a poodle while perms were all the rage, but now heated wands and tongs have taken over and curls can be washed out easily!!!  I will let you know tomorrow what I think! I hate having my photo taken ( as you can tell from the absence in my blog profile ) so I wont be making my new wig public, sorry!! but just imagine Brian May from Queen, and you'll know what it's like.

Thanks for dropping by today

Red, Gold, and Green!!!

OMG !!!!! I've Just seen that this is my 200th post.............Yaaaaaay me!!! I never thought I'd last this long??

Anyway, today my card is for the Stampin Royalty challenge where they have this photo for inspiration.

This is what I made using the 3 main colours I saw of red, yellow, and green.

Unfortunately, my camera angle isn't too good, but the yellow card was embossed with a Butterfly Folder in the Big Shot, and the butterfly gems are bright red!! The flower stamp was inked with SU Write Markers and stamped onto White card which was then cut with a Nestabilitie in the Big Shot. Green ribbon was wrapped around the red card before it was placed on the card at a jaunty angle, and the yellow and green cards were layered on top. The sentiment was raised on 3D pads for dimension, and the finishing touch was the green gems on the yellow card.

Recipe :
Card = Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, and CB from MS
Stamps = Just Believe
Inks = Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry, and Pear Pizzazz
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, and Butterfly Kisses EF
Extras = 3D pads, Ribbon, Square and Butterfly gems

My toothache is bad again today so I needed the bright colours to cheer me up a bit.

I will be more organised as the week goes on, and I will be putting up some candy to celebrate my 200th post so please pop back and have a look

Thanks for dropping in today

Filigree Birthday

Today I've combined two of my favourite challenges for my card,

the first is this sketch from Mojo Monday

and the second is the cool colours from ColourQ

This is the end result

The first thing I did was stamp the filigree pattern in green around the edge of a white card and circle. I then embossed some blue card through the Big Shot and wrapped some grey ribbon around the top and added a bow. The stamped flowers were cut out and arranged on the raised up circle with 2 up on 3D pads, and leaves and sentiment added.

Recipe :
Card = Tempting Turquoise, Basic Grey, Whisper White, and White CB from MS
Stamps = Vintage Vogue and Verve
Inks = Tempting Turquoise, Wisteria Wonder, and Lucky Limeade
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Cottage Floral EF, and Stamp-a-ma-jig,
Extras = Ribbon and 3D pads

Today has been another grey wet day, and the cool air has played havoc with my front teeth which are wobbling, and I fear that I may have to visit the dentist soon. I will delay this torture for as long as I can stand the pain as I hate going!! So it could be soup and soft foods for a day or two

Anyway, thanks for looking at my blog today, and please call back again when you get a chance.

Friends card

Staying with the One Layer card, I've used the Simply Stampin challenge colours

and combined it with the Simplicity OLW #88 challenge, where GDT Heather Telford wants a 2" x 2" square design.

This is what I did

The front card is the one for the challenge, but I made a cream one while I was at it. The 2" x 2" square was masked with Post Its, and then I stamped the F inside with Versamark and heat embossed it with white powder. I sponged over this with the 3 colours so that the letter jumped out, and then the Post Its were removed.

Recipe :
Card = FMS
Stamps = Vintage Vogue
Inks = Regal Rose, Real Red, Island Indigo, and Versamark
Extras = Post Its and White embossing powder

Thanks for dropping by, and I hope to be back soon

Simple One Layer Card

I have been so busy today and I've had no time to myself until now. So to unwind from my day I decided to craft............however, I didn't know where to start!!

In the end I went with the yummy colours at Simply Stampin challenge

and then over at Less is More it's a real tricky challenge of a ONE LAYER CARD using THREE stamps

Well, after what felt like a lifetime, I made this simple card

Those of you who are not aware of Stampin' Up, ( which I use most of the time!!) may think that this is 2 stamps, but the butterfly is a 2 step stamp. The pink wings being 1, and the flower markings and body being 2, and the words are the third. For once I have stuck rigidly to Chrissie and Mandi's brief, so I hope I wont be on the naughty step today ( fingers crossed )

Recipe :
Card = White card base FMS
Stamps = Flight of the Butterfly
Inks = Regal Rose, Real Red, and Island Indigo
Tools = Stamp-a-ma-jig and Corner rounder

Tomorrow, I'm out again, but hope to be home in the afternoon for more crafting

Twelfth Night!

Today my card is for two challenges

The first is Make My Monday where they are doing a Floral month, and this week they want to see Any Flower with Music

and the second is CR84FN where they have this colour palette

Whilst wracking my brains in what to do, I thought of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night line, " If Music be the food of Love, Play on!" and this is what I came up with, what do you think?

Recipe :
Card = Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, a Minty Green and White card base FMS
Inks = Tempting Turquoise, Archival Brilliance White, Black ( my laptop)
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Shapeabilities, Marianne Designs vine, Readicut Flower punches, Boho Blossoms and Build a Blossom Punch
Extras = Music sheet download, Sentiment done on Laptop, 3D pads and diamond gems

I started this card at Jacqueline's yesterday, but again I struggled with where to start so I punched out the flower first, and the rest followed this morning!? The sentiment is raised on 3D pads to add more dimension.

I wish I knew where my crafting mojo keeps going to?, where ever it is, must be nice as mojo goes there frequently???

I hope to be back soon, so please call again, and thanks for dropping by today

Friday 11 May 2012

Watch the Birdie!!

My heating engineer has only just left ( 5.22pm ), thank goodness I didn't have anywhere important to be today!!

While waiting for him I had chance to do another card.

It's for the Clean and Simple challenge where they have this sketch

and CAS-ual Fridays where they want to see feathered friends

 This is what I made

I still had my blue and green inks and sponges on my desk so I sponged a label and layered it on a dark green one. I then stamped and coloured the dovecote on some white card, cut it out and stuck it on the label. I then stamped the white doves in grey ink, cut them out and added them to the picture, with the flying dove on 3D pads overhanging the scene. The sentiment was added, and the whole thing was added to some green card that had been embossed. Simples!!!

Here is a closer view of the white doves. I have softened them with an Aqua painter and some grey ink. I tried stamping them in black at first, but they looked too severe so I used the grey.

Recipe :
Card = Garden Green, Green Galore, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, and cream card base FMS
Stamps = Flower Soft and SU Basic Phrases
Inks = Pool Party, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Sahara Sand, and Basic Black
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Budding Vine embossing folder, and Aqua Painter
Extras = 3D pads

That's it for today, Thanks for looking and I hope to be back tomorrow?
