Blossom Bird

Today, I could not decide what sentiment to put on my card, so for a change I decided to leave it off all together so I can use it for any occasion.

I will also be entering it into these challenges :

Addicted to Stamps want us to
        "MAKE YOUR MARK"

and Inkspirational have the theme of
      "BLOOM"

the sketch comes from Mojo Monday

House of Cards have this photo inspiration and colour palette

I haven't used a DL card for some time, and I quite enjoyed the challenge of creating something slim lined so may use one again soon.

Supplies :
Card = Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, and DL base FMS
Stamps = Whimsical Wings, Simply Soft, and Everything Eleanor
Inks = Black Archival, Pistachio Pudding, Wisteria Wonder, and Blushing Bride
Tools = Stamp-a-ma-jig, and Fiskars Scissors
Extras = 3D Pads, Gems, and Ribbon FMS

I have spent the last few days with my family working hard in my garden. We (well, they! helped by me ) laid a concrete slab base and built a shed on it, and painted 13 6' x 6' fence panels.

This is before, and after the shed. There is still a lot more to do to tidy it up, and to build raised flower beds so I can easily reach weeds and the plants.

Blue Bird

This is my second post today, and my card is for two challenges.

Paper Craft Crew with this sketch,

and Stampin' Royalty  who have these colours

Here's my card

I started by colouring the edges of a white card base and a square of white card with a Suede Write Marker. I then randomly stamped a brown flower onto some blue card, before wrapping yellow ribbon around it and layering onto the base, finishing with a bow. I used a border punch along one edge of the second card and laid some more white card on top. Here I stamped the bird from one of my favourite sets without his main tail, masked his body with a Post It, and then stamped the elaborate feathers in its place. I stamped three yellow flowers which I grouped in the corner, with one on 3D pads. For the final touches I added the sentiment and gems.

Supplies :
Card = Pool Party, and White card and base FMS
Stamps = Whimsical Wings and Verve
Inks = Soft Suede, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit
Tools = Stamp-a-ma-jig  AND NO BIG SHOT!!!
Extras = Yellow ribbon and Blue gems (the closest to the challenge colours I had )

Tomorrow, I am dog sitting "Charlie" for my friend while she goes to a funeral, so I may not get chance to do any crafting till late in the day, but I will be back at my desk when I can.

Thanks for dropping by today, and Thank You for all your lovely comments

Bird in the Blossom

Today my card is for the  CAS-ual Fridays challenge where they want to see a CAS project with  Flowers or Trees

I've combined the 2 for my card and made a blossom branch of a tree. Here's my entry

After stamping the bird, I masked her with a Post It and stamped the blossom branch under and behind her. I used pale pastel Spring colours, but my camera doesn't do them justice, so I hope you can see her OK.

Recipe :
Card = White card base from my stash
Stamps = Whimsical Wings, Garden Silhouettes, and Verve
Inks = Soft Suede, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, and Crushed Curry
Tools = Stamp-a-ma-jig

I hope you like it, and thanks for dropping by today.

Bermuda Bay Bird

Yaaaaayy, the lovely DT at Make My Monday have chosen me as Top 3 again, Thank you so much Ladies I really appreciate it.

November already??!! Just where has this year gone? Still I love the autumn and winter months, everything looks so beautiful and the colours of the trees are fabulous.

Now, back to the present, today's card is for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge #26  using this sketch as a starting point.

I decided to rotate the sketch through 90* so my card is wider, but still keeping the structure of the design.

This is the end result, what do you think?

I started with some white card and stamping the bird with his wonderful tail on his branch. Then I extended the branch across the rest of the card using two swirls in the same green (with the aid of my Stamp-a-ma-jig ). The stamped image was then layered on some blue card before it all was placed onto a white card base and the corners rounded. To finish, a sentiment and gems were randomly added.

Recipe:
Card = Island Indigo, Whisper White, and white card base from my stash
Stamps = Whimsical Wings, Inkadinkado and Verve
Inks = Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, and Pear Pizzazz
Tools = Stamp-a-ma-jig and Xcut corner rounder
Extras = gems

I've got a few busy days coming up, so I'll be back as soon as I can.

Thanks for dropping by

Bermuda bird

Hi, thanks for looking at my blog, I hope you see something you like.

What a funny day it is again, one minute rain, the next brilliant sunshine. I think Autumn is taking a firm hold now thank goodness ( the hot weather is not good for my RA!). I have made the most of it and made 2 cards this afternoon.

The first is for Cas-ual Friday challenge where the card has to no larger than 4 x 4.

So I started with a white square card that was 4" x 4", rounded the corners, and layered it with a label nestabilitie in a green, and matted it with a white label on which I stamped the bird and flowers. I then stamped the bird onto white card and cut out the wing which was added to the card on 3D pads.
The finishing touches were the sentiment in green and gems on the flower and birds eye.

Here it is. I love this little bird and I like to add the big flourish as his tail instead of the long feather.

This is so different from the busy Steam Punk card yesterday, though each have their places in card makers hearts, this Clean and Simple is more my style.

I will also be entering this card in the Simply Less is More challenge where they are trying to get 1000 "Anything Goes" entries this week.

Recipe : Card = SU Whisper White and green from my stash
Stamps = Whimsical Wings and Verve
Inks = Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Certainly Celery
Tools = Big Shot and Labels nestabilities
Extras = 3D pads and gems from my stash

Thanks for looking today, and I would love to read what you think if you have time to leave a comment.

I'll show you the other card later.

Whimsical Wings

Yaaaaaaaaayyyyy, I'm Top 3 at Make My Monday again, Thank you DT!!

Hi everyone, Hope you've all had a good Bank Holiday and are enjoying the last few days of the summer with the children before they start the new school term...........can you believe that tomorrow is officially the first day of Autumn??? Scary isn't it??

Also, I must tell you all that the Gremlins are still interfering with my blog, and I cannot leave any comments, so I apologise now and hope that Blogger can sort it out for me soon. Thanks for your understanding, and although I'm silent ( some might hope!!), I'm still looking at all the wonderful projects you are creating.

Anyway, I've not had much chance for crafting myself, but I started a card on Tuesday afternoon at my friends, and have finally managed to finish it so I could enter it in Make My Monday's last challenge on the theme of Things with Wings.

This week we had this photo as inspiration

I started with a white square card, rounded the corners and sponged the edges before layering it with green card with a torn corner, and then a cream card also torn and sponged. I then stamped the foliage and bird from Whimsical Wings using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The bird cage was stamped and heat embossed on the cream card, and a second cage stamped and embossed on acetate so I could cut out a section to create a cage door so as to suggest that the bird has escaped. The roses were again stamped and placed with the Stamp-a-ma-jig, with 3 being raised on 3D pads for added dimension. The finishing touch was the gem for the birds eye, the cream bow on the cage, and the Verve stamped sentiment.

Here it is. I adore this bird and love to use the whispy feathers stamp for his tail. I hope you like it

and here is a close up of the cage door

Recipe : card = SU Green Galore, Whisper White, and Very Vanilla
Stamps = Whimsical Wings, Baby Blossoms, Papermania, and Verve.
Inks = Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, and Versamark
Tools = Heat Gun, and Stamp-a-ma-jig
Extras = Gold embossisng powder, acetate, cream ribbon, and green gem from my stash.

One reason why no crafting has been done, is because we had a family day out to Gloucester Docks on Sunday to see the Tall Ships and the re-enactment of the 1801 war where the Gloucester Regiment fought off the French at Alexandra in Egypt. Here is a photo of one of the ships.

Here Nathan and Nana ( My mum, Mary ) are talking to some of the volunteers dressed as the soldiers would have in those times.

There was a circus style show put on for the kids, but alot of the jokes and one liners were aimed at the adults ( well at least I hope the kids didn't understand what was going on!!!???) . This is the act called 'The Black Eagles', who were acrobats that did a bit of fire eating, juggling, and gyrating of hips that didn't leave alot to the imagination of what lay beneath their loin clothes!!!!
I wont bore you with any more photos,  but boring as it sounds, it was a lovely day out.

Now, I'm not making up excuses, but, I'm in hospital on Friday for my next RA treatment, so I may not feel well enough to do any crafting, but I'll be back as soon as I can to show you anything I do manage to create.

Thank you for dropping by, and I'd love to read any comments you have if you get time to leave them.

Back soon

Whimsical Best Wishes

This is the second card I made yesterday while vegging out on the sofa.

The base for my card is the sketch challenge over at Pals Paper Arts.

As I had the SU Whimsical Wings set out on the table I decided to use the bird as my main image.

I used my BS to cut some large and small labels in Whisper White and  Tempting Turquoise. The bird was stamped on the large WWhite in TTurquoise and Certainly Celery, but the turquoise didn't come out very well ( I think my pad is drying up as it had been put away upside down!! that will teach me to rush to put things away) so I coloured over it with a Bermuda Bay marker.I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to add the flourished tail feathers. The Woodware sentiment was added in CCelery in the space where the flower should have been. I then stamped the flower from the bird stamp onto the small WWhite label and again used the BBay marker. A 1 1/2" strip of TTurquoise was then put through the BS in a Budding Vine embossing folder and stuck along the right hand edge of a 6" square of WWhite. The bird label was added also towards the right hand side of the card and the flower label stuck to the left hand side with 3D pads.

As the PPA challenge ends tomorrow I've had to post it tonight as I'm going to be busy of the next few days and don't know when I'll get chance to do any more.

Recipe :
Card : SU Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise
Ink : Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Bermuda Bay
Stamps : Whimsical Wings, Woodware
Others : Big Shot, SB nestabilities labels, Budding Vine embossing folder, 3D pads, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Thanks for dropping by and please leave a comment if you have the time.

Whimsical Wings Double

For those of you who follow my blog, you will know where I will be this afternoon!!!!

Today I've created a "Double Whammy" and mixed 2 challenges. The first, Clean and Simple Stamping gave me this sketch, and the second, Simply Stampin Challenge gave me these colours to work with, Certainly Celery, Poppy Parade, Whisper White, and Real Red

I started with a white card and masked 1 1/2" off the bottom and stamped the Whimsical Wings large flourish randomly to create a border. Then I used my beloved BS and labels nestabilities to cut a Whisper White and Poppy Parade label, and a strip of Certainly Celery placed under the bottom of the label. The WWings bird was stamped in Real Red and CCelery onto the WWhite and the little flower was from Itty Bitty Buds also in RRed.I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the sentiment from Whimsical Words and stamped it in RRed in the bottom corner, with the flourish in CCelery below it.

Take a look at the outcome

Tomorrow morning I'll be at Jacquelines and hopefully we can get some crafting done, I'll let you know how we get on!!!

Thanks for all your lovely comments, they are gratefully received and appreciated. Please come back soon if you can.

Whimsical Wings

Hi everybody, it's another nice day.....if you're a duck!!!, so I'll just have to do some crafting indoors. I popped over to CAS-ualfridays blog, and what a challenge they have set today.

You had to choose 3 squares in a row vertically, horizontally,or diagonally, and make a card using whatever was displayed in those squares.  I decided to go diagonally from top right hand square ( emboss ), to bottom left hand square ( buttons) through the centre ( dies or punch).
I dug out one of my old favourite SU sets,Whimsical wings, and stamped the bird and flower image in Vibrant Primary colour Big n' Juicy ink onto SU Whisper White card, and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then put this image through my Big Shot with a scalloped circle die and embossed that. This was then mounted onto a square of turquoise card from my stash which had been through the Big Shot in a Cottage Floral embossing folder and I rounded the corners before mounting on a WW 6"x 6" card. The circle was stuck down off center so that a Woodware greeting could be stamped in the same ink pad onto a smaller scalloped circle of  WW, and placed in the bottom corner, above which I placed 3 blue buttons ( there is some string tied in a bow through the middle one). See what you think, sadly it's not easy to see the heat embossed image in the photo.

It's been a disapointing day in the tennis today because of the weather, but luckily the Grand Prix is in Canada this weekend so it should not be affected...........thank goodness!!
I may do some more playing soon so please pop back if you can spare the time and have a look.

Thanks very much for your time and comments. Bev.x
