Owl card

Today I have made a card that I know will be posted before the deadline!!

It's for the Mojo Monday challenge where they have this sketch for inspiration

This is my card

I cut 4 holes in some pale green card and mounted it on 3D pads on a slightly larger piece of darker green card. This was then matted on some DSP that was on a cream card base. I only had 1 brown owl, so I drew around it to make 3 more, and after adding their eyes and tummy's I placed them in their holes ( also on 3D pads ). I wrote the sentiment on my laptop and printed it on white card that was then layered on green card.

Recipe :
Card = SU DSP, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, Green Galore, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Wisteria Wonder, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Whisper White, and Garden Green
Inks = Black  Fine liner and White gel pen
Tools = Owl Punch, and Two step Bird Punch

I think these owls are really cute, and I must buy this punch ( another item on my WANT list !! )

It's a good job it's raining again today, as I've had time to stay inside and make this project............I'm off now to link it to the site quick smart!!!

Thanks for looking and I love it if you could drop by again soon.

A Christmas Hoot!

Yaaaayy!! I've come Top 3 at the  Simply Stampin Challenge again. I'm so pleased and must say a big "Thank You" to the DT for choosing me.

The card I've made today is for the Clean and Simple challenge #167 where they have this sketch.

I thought for a change I'd put my stamps aside and use the cute owl I made with Jacqueline's punch a while ago.

Here he is in his Santa suit, isn't he cute?

The card started with some green card that was embossed in the BS and placed on a white card. I then sponged a blue sky over a snowy hill scene on a white textured card circle, which was then matted onto a red circle. I then stamped some holly sprigs numerous times on some dark green card and cut them out to sit along the bottom of the scene. I then stamped the greeting on some white card and placed a tree shaped brad at each end. This was then raised on 3D pads for dimension and also somewhere for the owl to perch.

Recipe : Card = Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Lavender Lace, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, and white card stock from my stash
Stamps = Dovecrafts and Docraft
Inks = Bashful Blue, Always Artichoke, Real Red, Basic Black, and White Gel pen
Tools = Big Shot, Swirl embossing folder, Owl Punch
Extras = Tree Brads

Thanks for dropping by today, and as tomorrow is my Super Hero day with Nathan,  I'll be back in a few days time.

Punched Peacock Side Step

Well that's nearly another week gone, and I've still not had any real time for crafting!!

Hello to my new follower Helen T, how spooky is it that you and my last joinee are both Helens??  Anyway, you both are welcome and Thanks for becoming a follower.

I have had a go at the Simply Stampin challenge though. They call it "Punch it Up", and requires using punches in the design.

After a long think, and ignoring the urge to reach for my Big Shot, I decided to use my Blossom Petals punch to make one of my favourite birds, a peacock.

Here's what he turned out like

I started with a cream card from my stash, scored, cut and folded a strip at the side to make the side step. I mounted some aqua coloured card from my stash onto some Garden Green to create the front and 3 side panels.I then used my blossom punch to cut 5 large petals (for the tail), 1 long petal (for the body), 2 plump petals( for the wings), and 1 small petal ( for the head) from GGreen. 6 long petals were punched out of Taken With Teal, 5 for the tail and 1 to be cut in half for his neck and breast. I then used a borrowed Owl Punch ( Thanks Jacqueline) to punch 5 Whisper White circles ( Owls eyes) and 5 hearts from stash card, and one Crushed Curry Owl was cut up to make the legs, head crown and beak. The white eye came from the Owl punch and I drew his pupil with a black pen. Before sticking together I sponged each petal with Archival Opalite Cypress Frost and Sterling Frost, to try to give the bird the shimmery tinge to the feathers that the real peacocks have. It didn't quite work as I'd hoped, but I've run out of time before the challenge closes, so I hope to try the peacock again soon. The body was stuck with 3D pads to give him more dimension.

Here's a close up of the Opalite on the petals/feathers

The side panels were stamped with a Verve sentiment and a Peacock feather which I had designed and had made for me by TandaStamps. in Handsome Hunter, and coloured with a white gel pen and Bermuda Bay SU marker.

Recipe : Card = SU Garden Green, Taken with Teal, Whisper White
Punch : Blossom petals and 2 step Owl
Inks : Archival Opalites in Sterling Frost and Cypress Frost, Crushed Curry marker, and Handsome Hunter
Stamps : Peacock Feather and Verve sentiment
Extras : 3D pads and White gel pen

Right, I've minutes before the challenge closes so I'm rushing off to get this posted but I'll be back soon.

Thanks for dropping by, and I'd love your comments on my bird if you get a few seconds spare.

Patriotic Owl Birthday

This afternoon I have finally got some time to craft! Yaaay!!

I popped over to the Less is More challenge and saw that their theme is the colours of "your nations flag". As I'm in the UK I decided on using the Union Jack colours of red, white, and blue.

I started with a SU Whisper White 5" square card, and stamped the naked tree and leaves from Clarity Stamps in the bottom left corner in Brilliant Blue so it looked like a branch sticking out. I then pieced together a Poppy Red owl from the SU Owl 2 step punch ( which I'd done with Jacqueline's punch on Tuesday) , and coloured the WWhite tummy as the Union Jack with Promarkers. I added his eyes, and then cut the tops off the WWhite heart for his beak as the flag was a little too busy to see the red one created by the V cut in the tummy piece. I then stamped the Woodware sentiment in Real Red, elongating the You so it would sound like an owl when read out!!

Yes, I know how daft I am, but it made me smile when I did it, and I'm sure I'm not the first person to have done it!!

Anyway, here he is in all his glory

Recipe : card = SU Whisper White and Poppy Red
Inks = Brilliant Blue and Real Red
Stamps = Clarity and Woodware
Tools = Owl 2 step Punch

This was quite a quick card to make, but I was so engrossed in colouring his tummy, I hadn't heard the sudden heavy downpour of rain, and all my lovely, nearly dry washing that was out on the line is now soaking wet again !! Aaaaaaaaah!!

I'd better go and get it in, Thanks for dropping by and I hope you like my owl.
