Blue Monday

Well, here we go into another week, and I start it with a very quick post from me. My sister and nephew, Henry (1 year old) arrived for a surprise visit this morning, and so time has got away from me and I don't want to miss the challenge deadlines.

Here is my card

For a change, it's a gate fold card, and this is a view of the inside.           The front sentiment, rose centres, and wing edges of the butterfly were heat embossed with gold EP. A Martha Stewart punch was used to decorate the edges of the brown, turquoise, and blue stripes of card on the front folds, and the brown rose leaves were fussy cut, with one pair sticking over the edge of the left hand fold.

These are the challenges I'll be entering:

The sketch is from Try Stampin' on Tuesday with the added twist
  "SMELL THE ROSES"

The colours are from ColourQ

and lastly, Addicted to CAS with
"OFF THE EDGE"

(I hope the blue and brown stripes qualify for blank space?)
Supplies :
Card - Pool Party, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Turquoise card FMS
Stamps - Stippled Blossoms, Papillon Potpourri, Sassy Salutations, and Docrafts
Inks - Pool Party, Tempting Turquosie, Versamark, and Adirondack Espresso
Tools - Big Shot, Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, and Heat Gun
Extras - 3D Pads and Gold EP

Thanks for dropping by

Another Brick in the Wall!

My card today is for two challenges

The first is Friday Mashup who gave us the
sketch AND/OR the brick technique,

and then Dynamic Duos who gave us these colours, with a dessert option of Plants

Here is what I made

I think I covered all bases and followed the sketch and the brick technique, together with the two colours, and the plants option.

After stamping the image in black, I coloured the flowers in green, and then cut it up into brick shapes.
These were laid on black card, which was then matted onto green card that had been stamped at one end with the vine from the central image. A sentiment and butterfly were the finishing touches.

Supplies :
Card = Black, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, and white base FMS
Stamps = Fresh Cuts, and Cute Companions
Inks = Black, Archival, and pear Pizzazz
Tools = Martha Stewart Punch, Elegant and Bitty Butterfly Punches
Extras = Ribbon, 3D Pads, and Gems

I'm off babysitting tomorrow, so I'll be back soon

CAS Tea Cups

Yaaaaay!! I came Top 3 at CAS Colours and Sketches, and I'm really thrilled, so I say a big "Thank You" to their DT.

My card tonight is for two challenges

The first is this sketch from

and secondly these colours from

Here is my card

I embossed some green card and wrapped a blue ribbon around the top. I then stamped the tea cups on some white card, and matted it on some yellow card that had a punched bottom. For the final touch, I added the black stamped sentiment to the ribbon keeping it CAS.

Supplies :
Card = Whisper White, Daffodil delight, Green and White base FMS
Stamps = Tea Shoppe
Inks = Black, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, and Bermuda Bay
Tools = Stamp-a-ma-jig, Big Shot, Fancy Fan EF, and Martha Stewart Punch
Extras = Ribbon

I was in Leicester yesterday, visiting my Sister Cassy. Little Henry is doing really well, he's put weight on and seemed to have got longer!!. The only problem is, he came into contact with a friends child who has since developed Chicken Pox, so Cass is on tender hooks watching to see if spots appear. It never rains when it pours!!.

Anyway, it's a Bank Holiday weekend for us in the UK, so here's hoping that the weather stays dry and you all have a great time whatever you're doing.

Mum's Op went well so hopefully she'll be home soon, and then the nursing will really start!......she cant do anything for at least six weeks, and then she is only allowed to lift a kettle that has enough water in it for one mug of tea!!! Oh well, I can repay her for looking after me for the last 46 years!

I hope to be back soon, although I'm suffering with a terrible cold and cough at the moment, and at night the cough is at its worst when I lie down, so it is the only time I can craft.

Blue Lotus Pendants

This is my second post for today, as I wont be able to do any crafting for a couple of days because I'm having both of my hands and fingers injected at hospital tomorrow.

I will be entering my card into the following challenges

First, Try Stampin' on Tuesday with this sketch,

and lastly, Stampin' Royalty want to see        RIBBONS AND PEARLS

I randomly stamped a flower in blue on a square of green card, and then I used a scallop border punch around the edges. I wrapped this with a blue ribbon and bow. I then used the Big Shot to cut two Lotus pendants in blue, and the light blue one was cut in half and stuck together again to make an oblong shape

A rosette was stamped in green, cut out and raised on 3D pads, and a 2 layer flower (also on 3D pads) added in the centre.  The sentiment was stamped under the pendants and pearls added as a highlight and as stamens in the flower.

A border punch was used to make the yellow strip, and then a black ribbon wrapped around it. A Mouse Drops in

Yaaaaay! I've just seen that I was in the Top 3 at Stampin' Royalty last week, so I'm a bit happier than I was this morning.

To take my mind off things for a while, I made a card that I'll be entering into three challenges.

The first is The Paper Players with this sketch,

second Color Throwdown  with these colours,

and lastly, Addicted to Stamps where they want us to

MAKE YOUR MARK and use marker pens

This is my card

I stamped the mice and butterfly in Archival ink on white card, and coloured them with SU Write Markers, softening the colour with an Aqua painter. I embossed some green card and wrapped it at the top with some CC card that had been punched along the edges, and some black ribbon. This was placed on a white card base and the animals put in place on 3D pads. The last thing was the stamped sentiment.

Supplies :
Card = Crumb Cake, Natural White, Green and base card FMS
Stamps = Cute Companions
Inks = Real Red, Handsome Hunter, Crumb Cake, and Black
Tools = Big Shot, Dots EF, Stamp-a-ma-jig, and Martha Stewart punch
Extras = Ribbon and 3D pads

Flowery Friend

I thought that I'd missed both challenges that this card was going in for, but if I type quickly, I may just make Mojo Monday. ( I will say another quick "Thank You" to them for picking my Nature Walk card last week )

The sketch is from Mojo Monday

and the colours were from the Paper Players  (Sadly, I've missed the deadline!!)

Here is my card

I stamped the green borders on Vanilla card, and layered it on some pink card that had a flower punched border. This was then matted onto some brown card with a brown ribbon wrapped around it. The sentiment was stamped onto a nestabilities scalloped circle which was added on 3D pads. Three flowers were added in the opposing corner, and the finishing touches were the star, heart, and round coloured gems.

Supplies :
Card = Very Vanilla, Brown  and Pink cards FMS
Stamps = Vintage Vogue
Inks = Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, and Regal Rose
Tools = Big Shot and Nestabilities
Extras = Ribbon, Gems, and 3D pads

Gotta rush now so I can make it to the post!!

Butterfly Stripes

This is my card of today, and I'll be sending it in for these two challenges:

Dynamic Duo's who have these colours, and

Simply Less is More  who want a ONE LAYER CARD with

            SPOTS AND STRIPES

Here is my card

First, I stamped the flowers with their spotty stems and added a few extra blue flowers. Then I stamped the two small butterflies, and added the sentiment to the bottom one. Next, I used my butterfly punch to make a shaped hole in some scrap paper, and positioned it near the centre of the card. I masked off a strip across the aperture and sponged along it with blue ink, then moved the masks and sponged in the gap with green ink, and continued along the whole area. When I removed the masks, I was left with white stripes as well which I quite liked so left them alone. The last thing was to stamp the body and spots on the wings of the large butterfly.

Supplies :
Card = White card FMS
Stamps = Simply Said and Flight of the Butterfly
Inks = Lucky Limeade and Pool Party
Tools = Butterfly punch, sponges and masking tape

                  #                                       #                                      #

I had forgotten to post this card. It was what we made at our Tuesday workshop.

The image was stamped onto some White card which was then cut up into nine tiles. The edges of these were sponged and then placed onto card brown card with a gap in between each one, then onto some blue card with a scalloped top. This was then placed on some DSP and wrapped with a green ribbon.

Supplies :
Card = Bashful Blue, Tan and White cards FMS
Stamps = Upsy Daisy and Verve
Inks = Gumball Green, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, and Tea Dye TH ink
Tools = Martha Stewart punch
Extras = ribbon and 3D pads

I'm in hospital for my RA treatment again on Wednesday so I may be off blogland for a few days while I recover in bed. I'm sorry that I haven't had chance to blog hop lately, but you can see by the times that I have posted my last few entries, just how late at night they have been, and I don't think the match sticks keeping my eyes open can hold for much longer!.

Have fun crafting, and I hope to be back as soon as I can to leave some comments.

Watch the Birdie!

This is my second card for today, and I'm putting it into the following challenges,

First is Stampin' Royalty with this sketch,

secondly, Color Throwdown with these
juicy colours,

and lastly CAS-ual Fridays who want to see stamped backgrounds

This is what I made

I made the bird background by punching the shape out of some scrap card, and randomly sponging So Saffron through the bird shaped hole. I then inked up a swirly flourish ( with Crumb Cake ) and stamped this through the hole as well, and this left a filigree shaped bird design. The same flourish was stamped in pink and green onto white card, and again punched with the bird shape. I love doing this technique and really must use it more. The birds were placed on pink card over a branch coloured with a green Write Marker, topped with the wings that were placed on 3D pads. These toppers were then mounted onto cream card which had an embossed line down down each side, and pink scallop border peeping from underneath each edge.

Supplies :
Card = So Saffron, Melon Mambo, White card and Cream card base FMS
Stamps = Always Elegant and Verve sentiment
Inks = Melon Mambo, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade, and Black
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Martha Stewart punch, SU Bird Punch, Embossing board and tool (FMS),
         and Post It Notes
Extras = 3D pads, and organza ribbon

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and I hope to be back soon
