Yellow Roses of Hope

Today my card is for my Sister Cassy whose 2 week old baby, Henry, is seriously ill in hospital. Yellow roses symbolise hope, joy, and caring, so convey everything I want to say to her in a card. I will also be entering it into two challenges.

First is Mojo Monday with this sketch,

and, Colour Throwdown with these colours

This is my card

I started by randomly stamping the yellow flowers and green leaves on the top half of a white base, and then covering the other half with embossed blue card. I then stamped a yellow rose, a rose bud, and two leaves on some white card and cut them out.
With the Big Shot I cut and layered the scallop circle and label, and embossed a strip of yellow card. These were stuck in place with 3D pads, and the flower and sentiment added. The finishing touches were the butterfly with gem body, blue flag, blue and yellow gems in opposing corners.

Supplies :
Card = Black, Daffodil Delight, Naturals White, Blue and White base FMS
Stamps = Stippled Blossoms, Baby Blossoms, and Cute Companions Sentiment
Inks = Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, and Brilliant Blue
Tools = Big Shot, Nestabilities, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Fancy Fan and Dots EF, and Elegant Butterfly Punch
Extras = 3D pads and gems

We are all really worried about little Henry, so I hope this bright card will bring some cheer to Cassy and Russell while he is in hospital having tests done. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that he will be allowed home very soon.

Thanks for dropping by today, and please send positive thoughts to Cass, Russell, and of course, Henry.

Masculine Monochrome

My card this morning has a masculine feel to it and is for two challenges

and

Make My Monday where they want something that is

                     CAS MONOCHROME

My card

before stamping the sentiment underneath it.

Supplies :
Card = Naturals White, Brown and White card FMS
Stamps = My Friend and Cute Companions sentiment
Inks = Chocolate Chip
Tools = Big Shot and Nestabilities

Thanks for dropping by, and have a good weekend

Simply Stampin' Garden Silhouettes

Hello thanks for dropping by

For this Simply Stampin Challenge I put the Growing Green away and got out my Garden Silhouettes.

First I stamped the blossom branch in Certainly Celery and Melon Mambo onto Whisper White and cut it out.I then used a MS punch on some Pink Passion for the frill and cut 2 strips of CCelery and put them through the BS in a Budding Vine embossing folder before crossing them over at right angles to each other, and stuck down on the 6" square WWhite card. Some WWhite and PPassion were also put in the BS with a labels nestabilitie to form a flower vase for the blossom branch. The Bliss butterfly was stamped in MMambo and cut out and stuck in 3D so it is hovering over the flowers. The finishing touch is the Woodware sentiment stamped in MMambo.

What do you think? I've turned to one of my favourite colour combo's of green and pink.

Well that's it for tonight,I'll be back tomorrow when I become a craft couch potato infront of the Grand Prix ( did I mention I'm a fan??!!!???)

Hope to see you again, and thank you if you decide to leave me your comments.

Things with legs take 2

After submitting the insect card, I decided that it was a bit OTT, so for a simpler card I made this one

I used a cream card from my stash and stamped it with SU Tailgating in black Archival ink. I then used watercolours and pencils to colour it in and a white gel pen for the white poodle so it would show up ( not that you can see it very well in my photo). With my RA I'm not very good using the roller so I removed the rubber, stuck on some Easymount so it would cling to my ruler ( an idea poached from Vicky,Thanks Vicky, see her brilliant blog here). This was finished off with a Woodware sentiment.

I'm happier with this card, what do you think?

Edgy Organic Grace

Today its sunny outside, with Wimbledon and a Grand Prix on TV, what more could you want????

Well I'd settle for some crafty inspiration.!!!

I've made a card which combines two challenges;, Less Is More have used a sketch this week with three circles, and Cas-ualfridays theme is "Getting Edgy"

This is my interpretation

I used my trusty BS to cut two holes out of some blue 'leather look' card, and one out of SU Bashful Blue card which was stuck in between the holes. The card edges were then shaped with a MS punch as were some BBlue, and Navy Blue card, and each layered on top of the navy ( edges for the CAS-ual Friday entry)

Through the holes I stamped the flower from SU Organic Grace, before raising the leather card up on 3D pads, and stamping the dragonfly on the top circle.

Recipe : SU Whisper White,Bashful Blue card, with Navy and Leather look from my stash.
Ink : SU Brilliant Blue
Stamps : SU Organic Grace and Woodware sentiment
Tools : Big Shot, scalloped die, and 3D pads from stash

I will try some more crafting tomorrow when I hope my creative juices will return.

Thanks for stopping by, and hope you can call again soon. Bev. x

DIY Embossing Folder

Nice Duck weather again today!! so I'm just going to have to have another crafting play day..........this is one of the benefits of living alone I love !!

Anyway,I saw this technique on UTube a few weeks ago and just had to have a go.
First I got a piece of cardboard that was parcel packaging I had saved from awhile ago( about double the thickness of a cereal box),and cut it to 12"x15" and folded it in half. I then used a small butterfly punch to cut lots of shapes and stuck them to one side of the card with a glue stick.

The width of 6" is as wide as the platform for the Big Shot,if your embossing unit is different you may need to adjust the width to fit your machine.
Once the glue had dried I sandwiched some SU Real Red card in between the folder with the butterflies on the bottom, and put it through my Big Shot. The first attempt wasn't very good as the card was quite thick,so I put it through again but used the Tan Embossing mats in the sandwich mix and it came out a treat. See here

I then made a card using a large label BS die to cut the butterfly embossed card, and mounted it on a cream card from my stash that had been stamped with the flower from Organic Grace in Crushed Curry.I used a white gel pen to add some faux stitches and wrapped a ribbon from my stash around the bottom half of the label (I forgot to say this was done before it was stuck on the card, sorry) adding a bow to secure the tag printed with a CCurry Woodware sentiment. I them stamped a CCurry butterfly from Inkadinkado and stuck it above the ribbon, finishing it off with some gems for the body and white gel pen to draw some antennae.Take a look

I would think you could do this with any punched shape, so I would be interested to know what you have used if you decide to give it a try.

Good luck and enjoy playing because I certainly did.............Monty wasn't too impressed though as I was taking up quite a bit of his side of the sofa!!

Thanks for dropping by and hope you'll come back again soon. Bev.x

At Last .........Another Card!

It has been a while since my last post but after being badgered by my friend Jacqueline I have decided to update!
This is a card I made at Jacquelines last workshop. It demonstrates the Black Magic technique which you can see explained over on her blog here. Basically it is black card stock stamped with white pigment ink and then coloured with pencils
Hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back again!!!
